Established in 2000, Malvern House has quickly established itself as one of the most popular independent colleges in London.

The College gained accreditation from the British Council in 2003 in recognition of their high teaching standards and professionalism and now teaches over 6000 adult students per year, from over 100 countries. This ensures Malvern House College is able to offer a multicultural and dynamic atmosphere. This is an ideal place for students wishing to have high teaching standards as well as learn and exchange ideas with other individuals from a variety of countries and cultural backgrounds.

Teaching

  • All Malvern House teachers are native speaker level.
  • All Malvern House teachers go through a thorough interviewing process and must have the following qualifications or equivalents: CELTA/Trinity TESOL certificate or Delta/Trinity Diploma and a University degree.
  • Malvern House teachers are enthusiastic about teaching, and have the skills to plan effectively for each individual class.
  • All teachers come from diverse backgrounds and have various interests, which adds to the diversity of topics you will be able to discuss and learn.
Malvern House English courses

Location

Malvern House College is divided into three centres all situated in the heart of London, close to tourist attractions and major shopping areas. The centres are all close to each other, are located close to underground stations and are on several bus routes.

Each student is allocated a centre to study at, depending on their English ability. This ensures that everybody studying at your centre will be at a similar level of English as you, making it easy for you to understand them and to make friends.

The Piccadilly Centre is for beginners and students studying at lower levels. King’s Cross is for Intermediate and Upper-Intermediate Bloomsbury is for the highest levels, plus all Exam, Business, Diploma and Pre-University courses.

Facilities

Malvern House facilitiesMalvern House is one of the most modern Colleges in London and therefore has some of the most up-to-date facilities.

There are over 55 classrooms over three centres, with state of the art, high-tech facilities such as interactive white boards and an E-check in reception.

As well as being a great place to study, Malvern House has plenty of places to meet with friends and chill out. All the Malvern House centres have student lounges where you can relax at break times to watch TV, DVD’s and read magazines in great comfort.

All of the centres have free internet cafes providing high-speed Internet access to all students. There is also wireless internet (wi-fi), allowing you to bring your own laptop and use it in one of their study areas or lounges.

Each centre has its own library. They are fully equipped with books, DVDs and newspapers. There is also listening equipment that can be used to listen to special books that have been adapted for your level of English.

The Piccadilly and Bloomsbury Centres have their own cafes offering refreshments at reasonable prices. Students of the Kings Cross Centre have access to the Nido Building’s Student Cafe, which brews Starbucks Coffee.

English Courses

Malvern House facilitiesGeneral English is perhaps the most popular course for students wishing to improve their overall English. This is because General English classes develop all areas of English language, including reading, writing, speaking and listening. Emphasis is placed on speaking and pronunciation and listening, making sure that students develop communicative skills quickly.

General English classes are available for students of all levels of English.

Intensive English

If you wish to really improve your English quickly the why note ‘Fast Track’ your studies and join an intensive English program. On this course your will study in a classroom with a maximum of 7 other students and you will receive more tailored individual support.

The programme includes a 30 minutes one-to-one (individual) lesson per week and an exclusive London Excursion

Exam Preparation Courses

Malvern House has for many years successfully prepared students for a range of English language exams.

At Malvern House’s Bloomsbury Centre, higher-level students are taught by teachers and academics experienced in specifically preparing students to take a wide range of globally recognised English language qualifications.

This course is ideal for anyone interested in:

  • Gaining admission to a university or college
  • Gaining a qualification to help find a better job
  • Gaining a certificate to mark their improved level of English

Courses are available for the following Exams:

  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
  • Preliminary English Test (PET)
  • First Certificate in English (FCE)
  • Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)
  • Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE)
  • LCCI English For Business

There is also a range of University Pathways in Business or Tourism programs to help you prepare for higher education and our excellent University Placement Service will help you secure your place at university.

Student who book long term General English courses are welcome to move into these courses once they reach the required level of English (subject to paying the difference in course fees).

Business English

Wherever you work, the international language of business is English. Being able to communicate successfully and clearly in English is essential for companies wishing to trade internationally or expand their operations overseas. If you are able to communicate well, using English in a business situation, you will be able to bring a valuable skill to you company. It may also help you get your dream job in the future.

The London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) offers widely accepted international exams that are recognised by international corporations and universities. Malvern House offers the exams at 2 levels;

  • Level 2 is for Upper-Intermediate students.
  • Level 3 is for Advanced and Proficiency students.

English for Business (EfB) is a globally recognised qualification and respected internationally by employers and universities. Many employers specify EfB as a standard for recruitment and universities recognise EfB Level 3 as fulfilling their English language requirements.

Students taking Business English will be using materials that prepare students for LCCI English for Business. This means students can start any Monday. We generally recommend a 12-14 week course to prepare for the exam.
